If you are a horse and/or dog owner like I am, you understand the frustration of injuries and disposition changes, the cause, and the question of how to help your animal get back to his or her old self.
It is these difficulties that were my motivation to certify in the natural health care practice of Equine Sports and Canine Massage Therapy.
While it is not a fix-all and may take a succession of a few treatments to yield a dramatic result, Massage Therapy can provide great relief for your horse or dog, where there may have been injury or illness. The most effective schedule, to achieve and maintain top conditioning, is 1-3 treatments per month or, as needed depending on the training regimen.
***Massage Therapy must be considered when issues have been ruled out with appropriate Veterinary/Farrier/Dentist/Chiropractic care. When no other health concerns are present, Massage Therapy can help a horse or dog move forward, and back into training or their normal healthy routine***
My Thoroughbred, Fiona, recently took a spill, out of nowhere. I was only asking her to trot on the longe line, like I often do as a warm-up before I ride her. Right into the trot, her front legs buckled and down she went. It was startling to say the least, because I had never seen anything like this before, with any horse, not to mention Fiona. Fiona is the epitome of health. Following a short evaluation, I found that her front right upper leg muscle (Extensor Carpi Radialis), right shoulder(serratus thoracis), and girth(posterior pectoral) muscles were very tight and lacking free movement. There had been no notable injuries during handling or training that I could contribute her condition to. The only contributors to consider were that of having recently moved Fiona to a new environment, extreme winter temperature changes, and the common possibility that she may have strained some muscles while simply playing in the pasture. Following two successive massage therapy treatments, within one week, Fiona had good muscle movement again and was performing normally.

Massage Therapy has, at different events, naturally provided for my horses and dogs what other treatment sources might not.
>>>This natural health care method comes with no side-affects, and does not merely work to mask pain. Massage Therapy actually relieves pain by enabling muscles to relax<<<
While it is often important to work from the inside-out, it is also important to recognize the muscular system, its' supportive function, and then work from the outside-in. A health care regimen, that includes Massage Therapy, can do exactly for animals as it does for humans:
